Covid-19 Vaccine Winter Dose

A Winter dose of the Covid-19 Vaccine is an additional booster or a 4th Dose to be given 3 months after your first booster/3rd dose, which at the moment is recommended for the following population groups:

  1. Adults aged 50 and over
  2. Residents of aged care or disability care facilities
  3. People who are severely immunocompromised (this will be their fifth dose)
  4. People aged 16 years or older with a medical condition that increases the risk of severe COVID-19 illness
  5. People aged 16 years or older with disability, significant or complex health needs, or multiple comorbidities which increase the risk of a poor outcome
  6. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and older

Adults aged 30 to 49 years can receive a winter booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, however the benefit for people in this age group is less certain.

For those aged 16+ who are severely immunocompromised, this will be a 5th dose, 3 months after your booster and your 3 dose Primary course. To help you have a better understanding of who’s due for what vaccines and when, please see ATAGI’s Clinical Recommendations for Covid-19 Vaccines.
