Masks

As we are a medical practice, we ask that patient please wear a mask if you present to the practice regardless of whether you have a cough and/or cold and flu-like symptoms – this is to help minimize the spread and risk of infections.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Influenza Vaccines

The influenza vaccine role-out has started across Queensland. This can be co-administered with your Covid-19 vaccine should you wish to do so. A reminder that the National Immunisation Program (NIP) provide free influenza vaccinations to only certain groups:

  • People aged 65 and over
  • Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perople aged 6 months and over
  • Children 6 months to less than 5 years
  • People 6 months and over with certain medical conditions that increase their risk of severe influenza and its complications.

If you are not a part of one of the above groups, the Government is offering all Queensland residents over the age of 6 months the influenza vaccine for free in 2024. This programme has now commenced and will conclude on 30 September 2024.

For more information on the influenza vaccine, visit the Australian Government Department of Health website. If you would like to book an appointment for your influenza vaccine, please ring our reception on (07) 4315 6939.

Covid-19 Vaccine Winter Dose

A Winter dose of the Covid-19 Vaccine is an additional booster or a 4th Dose to be given 3 months after your first booster/3rd dose, which at the moment is recommended for the following population groups:

  1. Adults aged 50 and over
  2. Residents of aged care or disability care facilities
  3. People who are severely immunocompromised (this will be their fifth dose)
  4. People aged 16 years or older with a medical condition that increases the risk of severe COVID-19 illness
  5. People aged 16 years or older with disability, significant or complex health needs, or multiple comorbidities which increase the risk of a poor outcome
  6. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and older

Adults aged 30 to 49 years can receive a winter booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, however the benefit for people in this age group is less certain.

For those aged 16+ who are severely immunocompromised, this will be a 5th dose, 3 months after your booster and your 3 dose Primary course. To help you have a better understanding of who’s due for what vaccines and when, please see ATAGI’s Clinical Recommendations for Covid-19 Vaccines.

If you would like to start booking for your Winter dose, please ring our Reception on 4315 6939.

For more information on recommendations for Winter Doses, see ATAGI’s updated recommendations for a winter dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Please visit the Australian Department of Health website for an update on any other Covid-19 related information.
